cancer – day 632

GOOD NEWS!!! There’s hope again, thanks to a new neurologist, a completely clear diagnosis, and neuropathy drugs that haven’t been tried yet.

Today was over-the-top great beyond my conception in terms of renewing hope that some day I might be able to touch things and stand up without burning pain. The diagnosis was so clean and complete that I’m a bit shocked that my oncologist knew nothing about treating it and that I didn’t find anything about it in my own research. I could kill my oncologist, for waiting over a year to get me a referral to this neurologist, jerk. 🙂

Every single detail I gave her about the pain and which chemo drugs they gave me pointed to a single diagnosis, so much so that she didn’t bother to order the painful tests usually done to rule out other related disorders and she went straight to treatment, because she’s absolutely convinced this is what it is. http://www.thecni.org/reviews/13-2-p07-treihaft.htm. It’s called small fiber neuropathy, which means it’s in the small nerve endings in the skin.
