The Cielem’el Survival and Growth Journal evolved out of two web logs I have maintained over time.

Begun in 2009 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32, The Cielem’el Cancer Journal documented my trials, tribulations, and spiritual growth during breast cancer treatment, with information on the diagnoses, surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and hormone therapy treatments, as well as all the personal and professional life stuff that still goes on throughout living a life with cancer. As a breast cancer survivor, I endeavor to inspire other young women like myself to fully engage and manage their cancer and treatments, and know that there are many women out there who are experiencing a similarly challenging emotional journey. Life doesn’t stop because you have cancer, it just gets more challenging.

About a year after finishing radiation, while still posting to The Cielem’el Cancer Journal, I started posting The Cielem’el Personal & Spiritual Growth Blog, which focused more clearly on areas of personal growth, self-development, and spiritual growth. My life journey and growth as a person neither began nor ended with cancer, and the Personal Growth blog was more of a continual journal of life experiences and learnings along my ongoing life journey beyond cancer. The journey honestly began when I was a newborn, shuffled and abused in multiple foster homes before being adopted by absolutely wonderful parents, and my life journey, consciously and continuously seeking personal growth, self development, and spiritual growth continues to evolve.

Over time it became clear that these two subjects cannot be divorced and maintained separately, because it is everything together that makes my web log what it is, meaning, an online journal of life experiences, survival, and growth from the perspective of someone who has survived multiple severe life trials and nurtured a conscious approach to personal and spiritual growth and self development. Hence, The Cielem’el Survival & Growth Journal. :)

Questions I Can’t Answer

I’ve spent a lot of time and had numerous experiences that have helped me understand the answers to two very big questions: •   “What is Reality?” and •   “What is Consciousness?” [Oooooh! I just remembered another big subject in my personal growth research/study/education: Subjective Reality. Look that up and read some Steve Pavlina and more if you like thinking about this […]

Science of Reality: Practicing the Daily Reflections

It is fascinating when you realize that everything is awareness, everything is made out of awareness, that the raw material of the universe is not matter, that the essential stuff of the universe is non-stuff. It is you. Practicing the seven daily reflections/mantras bring you into the awareness that is consciousness. The Daily Reflections are the seven big ideas that […]

Science of Reality: Daily Reflections

This session focuses on seven phrases—you could call them sutras or mantras—to reflect on. Over time they will begin to change your reality of everyday experience. Why are these seven words important? Well, they actually come from ancient times, attributed to great seers, sages, rishis. Most of them are anonymous—they were detached from their ego minds and their identity was […]

Donald Trump Has Declared Himself Impotent—A pitiful, hapless tyrant of a president blames the problems his administration has caused on out-of-office Joe Biden.

– by Joan Walsh, The Nation, August 28, 2020https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/trump-rnc-acceptance-speech/ So that was terrifying. With the Covid-19 death toll at 180,000 and counting, California ravaged by wildfires, Texas and Louisiana besieged by Hurricane Laura, and Kenosha, Wis., reeling after a teenage pro-police vigilante apparently murdered two of the many people protesting police violence there Tuesday night, Donald Trump took to the […]

Science of Reality: Fulfillment of Desire

In this post, everything comes from Deepak Chopra. The fourth lesson in Chopra’s “The Nature of Reality” series is called “Fulfillment of Desire.” It explores the next phase by connecting the previous lessons and how understanding the concepts can change our experience of life. That which we call the objective world, including our body, is an interpretation of experiences and […]

Why the Stock Market is Irrelevant as an Economic Recovery Indicator

Wall Street’s rapid recovery — even as 28 million Americans remain jobless — is a sign of something profoundly amiss in the economic system. I read a decent brief article in the Wall Street Post about the fact that the stock market is disconnected from the economy and is an inappropriate economic indicator. It also talks about how the Federal […]

Science of Reality: Dreaming Reality

The third lesson inn Deepak Chopra’s course, “The Nature of Reality,” is called “Dreaming Reality.” Whether or not you remember a dream, it’s still an experience you have. Dreams aren’t considered “real” because when you look back on the dream is not here, it’s over. So a dream by definition is transient, evanescent, ephemeral, and ungraspable. But memories are the […]

Science of Reality: Fundamental Experience

“Fundamental Experience,” the second lesson in Deepak Chopra’s “The Nature of Reality” course, goes beyond the scientific model of reality, which, if we believe it, has its source in the quantum vacuum [nothingness], including the existence of our body mind. Fundamental experience, though, comes from perceptual fluctuations in our awareness. The awareness is just having an experience of itself. The […]

Noam Chomsky: Decades of “the Neoliberal Plague” Left U.S. Unprepared for COVID-19 Outbreak

Noam Chomsky gave an utterly brilliant interview with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! this week [August 4, I believe], and some super-PAC has already used parts of it to make an anti-Trump commercial. I don’t remember exactly what’s in the commercial [which I saw on TYT yesterday], but I want to record verbatim a number of important things he said […]

COVID-19 Deaths in Perspective: 1 death also = 35 others permanently disabled

I was listening to the Thom Hartmann Podcast from July 13th, and somehow it really put a lot of what scares me about COVID-19 into perspective. Thom Hartmann was rebutting the idiots on Fox News and elsewhere who were basically saying “What’s the big deal? If only 1% die from getting coronavirus, well, it is what it is and let’s […]
