The Cielem’el Survival and Growth Journal evolved out of two web logs I have maintained over time.

Begun in 2009 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32, The Cielem’el Cancer Journal documented my trials, tribulations, and spiritual growth during breast cancer treatment, with information on the diagnoses, surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and hormone therapy treatments, as well as all the personal and professional life stuff that still goes on throughout living a life with cancer. As a breast cancer survivor, I endeavor to inspire other young women like myself to fully engage and manage their cancer and treatments, and know that there are many women out there who are experiencing a similarly challenging emotional journey. Life doesn’t stop because you have cancer, it just gets more challenging.

About a year after finishing radiation, while still posting to The Cielem’el Cancer Journal, I started posting The Cielem’el Personal & Spiritual Growth Blog, which focused more clearly on areas of personal growth, self-development, and spiritual growth. My life journey and growth as a person neither began nor ended with cancer, and the Personal Growth blog was more of a continual journal of life experiences and learnings along my ongoing life journey beyond cancer. The journey honestly began when I was a newborn, shuffled and abused in multiple foster homes before being adopted by absolutely wonderful parents, and my life journey, consciously and continuously seeking personal growth, self development, and spiritual growth continues to evolve.

Over time it became clear that these two subjects cannot be divorced and maintained separately, because it is everything together that makes my web log what it is, meaning, an online journal of life experiences, survival, and growth from the perspective of someone who has survived multiple severe life trials and nurtured a conscious approach to personal and spiritual growth and self development. Hence, The Cielem’el Survival & Growth Journal. :)

INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY IS NOT ABSOLUTE: A Century of Supreme Court Precedence

The U.S. Supreme Court has established and maintained this precedent for more than a hundred years: individual liberty does not extend to the endangerment of other American’s lives. The precedent-setting court case was Jacobson v. Massachusetts, in 1905, where the Court stated: “States have the authority to enact quarantine laws of every description in their legitimate exercise to protect the […]

PATRIOTISM 2020

The coronavirus kills Americans. Therefore the virus is our enemy. So fighting the virus is an act of patriotism. Our weapons at this time are defensive: mask-wearing, testing, contact tracing, physical distancing, and hand washing. Therefore, not supporting these virus-fighting efforts by individual behavior or official policy is aiding and abetting the enemy, and treason. Be a patriot. Fight the […]

100% mask-wearing reduces coronavirus transmission by NINETY-EIGHT-POINT-FIVE PERCENT

I got the transmission probabilities below from Thom Hartmann’s podcast; I believe the stats are from an infection diseases doctor in Washington state. When two people meet, where one person is carrying COVID-19 and one person is not . . . – If the COVID-19 carrier does NOT wear a mask and the non-carrier does wear a mask, the probability […]

Eight minutes and 46 Seconds on a Picturesque Day

Today’s Politico’s quote-of-the-day was spot-on, in my opinion. It was from California Assemblywoman Sydney Kamlager, spoken just before lawmakers knelt on the Capitol steps for eight minutes and 46 seconds to mark George Floyd’s death. “This day is picturesque. It would be a day to go jogging if you were Ahmaud Arbery. To ride a bike if you were Freddie […]

How are you behaving given the knowledge that one in seventeen people who get COVID-19 DIE? Will you change your behavior if you know that one in six people who get COVID-19 DIE? How is the fatality rate for COVID-19 actually calculated? Most websites that provide statistical information regarding COVID-19 include, at a minimum, Total Cases and Total Deaths, and […]

WE NEED A SWIFT, INCLUSIVE BAILOUT, BY AND FOR THE PEOPLE.

As nurses and grocery clerks keep the country running, Congress is developing a relief and recovery package to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Policymakers and the administration have put forward plans that attempt to return the economy back to a status quo where safety and security are promised only to corporations and the wealthy few. Gambling trillions of […]

Press Conference Today on Capitol Hill: Official Launch of U.S. Farmers & Ranchers for a Green New Deal!

This is fantastic, utterly fantastic. Seriously. While eliminating fossil fuels absolutely must be done for us to prevent our own extinction, that alone cannot possibly save the planet or even our lives at this point. Regenerative Agriculture, however, WILL. Farmers and ranchers will be our climate saviors, with a “transition away from industrial agriculture toward family farm-based organic and regenerative […]
