Science of Reality: Fundamental Experience
“Fundamental Experience,” the second lesson in Deepak Chopra’s “The Nature of Reality” course, goes beyond the scientific model of reality, which, if we believe it, has its source in the quantum vacuum [nothingness], including the existence of our body mind. Fundamental experience, though, comes from perceptual fluctuations in our awareness.
The awareness is just having an experience of itself. The experience occurs in consciousness, is known in consciousness, disappears in consciousness, and is made of consciousness.
Awareness is modifying itself into fluctuations called perceptions. Is your body the container of awareness? Or is your body a changing, fluctuating experience in awareness?
The reality is that you are a formless being having an experience of form and phenomena.
I imagine that if you have never investigated these kind of ideas (most easily accessible in the study of quantum physics), then all this may seem like circular thinking or is just plain confusing to you. I’ve actually spent a great deal of time studying these concepts over the past, oh, ten or twelve years. I think my exploration began with a documentary-ish movie called “What the Bleep?!?” and it’s sequel, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” which I have on DVD and watch at least once a year, usually in the winter when there’s snow on the ground and not a lot to do. Deepak Chopra was one of the visionaries interviewed in the movies, along with several others including scientists, doctors, spiritualists . . . though the only other person I remember by name at the moment is Dr. Richard Wolff, a quantum physicist who wrote a book I love to listen to called “Dr. Quantum.” So, those are a few resources for you to look up, if you want to dig into and understand the concepts underlying Deepak Chopra’s “The Nature of Reality” course that I’m writing about.
You may think this is all about the question: “What is reality?” But that question is secondary.
Remember, the fundamental question is: “What is Consciousness?”
