cancer – day 471
So Mom & Dad and the Eric Millers left early and I went back to my room for a nap but I couldn’t snooze because it smelled so bad so I left and went to the Mall of America to get my nails done and pick up a puzzle book and my perfume. That place hasn’t changed a bit. To be honest though, I like it. I like walking through the fun park games and rides, and I like how the four sides open up on every floor so you can see the amusement park.
After my very brief re-connection with the Mall of America, I called my cousin Doug and then I drove down to visit he and my Aunt Judy in Kenyon. We had a lovely and enjoyable visit, then I had to go to Faribault (pronounced fair-bow, for you Southerners who can’t read Minnesotan).
Seoul escaped from my hotel room while I was bringing in bags. I didn’t see her slip out. When I brought in the second bag, she was sitting in the window, but I didn’t notice where she was when I brought in the last bag. I called my mom to tell her about the visit at the Langemo farm, and started opening suitcases and arranging things for the room. And I don’t see Seoul. I look everywhere, and this place just has NO hiding places! I start to get panicky and get off the phone so I can search again more intently, but the cold hard truth was that she was gone. I was almost in tears looking down at Mizzou when he gave me one of his sweet soft meows, and I said to him “boy I sure wish you could talk, Mizzou. Where did she go?” He meowed again but didn’t make any gestures to clue me in to where she might be.
So I bite the bullet and call the front desk. I was nervous to do this because I hadn’t told her I had a CAT when I checked in. I usually let hotels assume that my pet is a dog, it’s just easier. So I called the desk and asked if anyone had seen a small gray striped cat with a pink collar, and the woman said she’d seen her but couldn’t catch her, so I went up to the front to look. And here’s Seoul, purring away for the hotel supervisor woman, who had found Seoul in a window because the tip of her tail showed below the curtain. The woman handed Seoul back to me and was very kind about the whole thing.
I went back and called my mom and dad to tell them what happened. My Mom said “You’ve got to take better care of your kids!” Uff da, that could have been a bad situation.
