cancer – day 466
Cameron got the bejeebers scared out of him on the tube we pulled behind the boat. He was riding with Eric, so it’s not like he was in any danger, but he started screaming when the bottom of the raft came off. Eric held Cameron up, he was barely touching the water, but he was still all upset. He didn’t want to get off the raft to reach over to climb up on the boat, so I jumped into the water and swam over to him so he could slowly slide off the tube onto me and then I held him up and swam him to the boat ladder. That was it for Cameron and tubing.
Then . . . duh duh duhnnn . . . I went waterskiing! Our pontoon boat was just fast enough for me to pull up out of the water. I was on for quite a while, cutting the wake, remembering how it feels and what you control to leverage the water. But wow, 30 seconds in my hands were just screaming bloody murder from having to hold on to the tow rope. I released a ski and did a little slalom then my hands gave out and I splashed into the water. My hands were burning so bad from the cold of the water and the weight of the tow rope, it was just awful.
This darn neuropathy just won’t let me have any of my old life back. I don’t have a single hobby that doesn’t involve exercise or using my hands or feet.
