cancer – day 461
Johnny V. came into town a little early, and as soon as my conference call was over, we met up. First he took me on a tour around town, reminding me where things were, where things used to be, and we talked on and on about people we knew and what he knew about where they ended up. Then we parked his pickup at my motel and drove Rubi out to Britt for some jeeping on the snowmobile trails out his way (small grown-over grassy trails) and we just talked and talked about everything under the sun. He showed me all his toys in his garage (more snowmobiles than I can count each in some enviable state of disrepair), and a dirt bike that I didn’t really notice because there was just too much to look at. We had a drink in the patio play room, then went back into town to have dinner at the Sawmill. We had a great time talking about just everything under the sun. A guy recognized John from across the room and bought us a round of drinks, which was fun. I actually gave my free drink token to John to use some other time, since I’d already had enough. We went back to my room to mapquest the location of my family’s cabin, and then we started digging in to websites for camper trailers for jeeping. There is some really cool stuff, and not insanely expensive. I think little Rubi would like to take a jeeping camper the next time he’s on a long road trip. John left at about 1:30AM, time passed so quickly!!
