cancer – day 337
Well, ok, so I’m not out dancing, but at least I’m out. 🙂
The satellite guy never showed up yesterday, turns out it wasn’t actually “dispatched,” which seems weird because they called me to make sure I’d be home. Anyway, that made it possible for me to leave a little bit earlier (4:30) for the drive to Reno. Yes, that’s right, Reno! I’m not here for dancing, though I will be back in late April for Chuck’s Reno Dance Sensation, a SERIOUSLY fun event. (www.renodancesensation.com)
But at the moment I’m here to meet up with some old college buddies from the group I went on tour with back in the day. Waaaayyyyy back in the day, it feels like. So tonight I’m hanging out with Lyle and Kyle and I think Kyle’s wife Yolanda too, whom I haven’t met but who sounds like the perfect complement to Kyle’s personality. We’ll know soon enough, I guess!
At the moment I’m about to go in the spa for a massage. I developed this horrible pain in my neck Wednesday (maybe after being up at my desk most of the night doing taxes) and it was unbelievably painful on Thursday, so much so that I would cry out in pain if I turned my head at all or did anything with my left arm. I think that freaked out the cats a little . . . they looked very concerned when I made noises, and they stayed really close to me wherever I went in the house. The pain was so bad I couldn’t sleep Thursday night because I couldn’t comfortably lie down. I finally got a couple hours sleep at 5am, lying flat on the mattress with pillows around my head and body so I wouldn’t wake myself up with pain from moving. It actually got better over the course of the day yesterday, but it was still really bad and I knew I was going to be at a resort & spa today, so, voila! Here I am in Reno about to get a massage before I go back to my room to grade papers before meeting up with the gang tonight.
What I really wanted to tell was the story of how Kyle and I randomly ran into each other in San Francisco years ago (but years after I’d last seen him, which was in Europe). But I’ve rambled too much and have to run now. Time to get this neck/shoulder muscle worked out and enjoy some spa services for a while. 🙂
