cancer – day 335

Wow. This is a really long journal. Granted, not everything from my journal is in the blog (the blog is maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the actual cancer journal content because of the censoring I was doing – more on that some other time). One time when I was home last fall, I printed out the journal to date at the time, and it was 226 pages.

Well, I was cleaning up stuff in my office tonight for two reasons: 1) because the satellite guy is coming on Friday and has to access the modem and the wall stuff, and 2) because I’m waiting for my guy in India to e-mail me some revisions needed in the files he’s working on and I don’t want to be at the computer from dawn to dusk so I’m taking a break from work and tidying up the office. Anyway!! The printout of my journal is in a box here next to my desk, waiting for the rest of it to be printed. Mark suggested at one point that I keep a paper copy . . . just in case. I have three electronic backups, but you never really know, right?

So I log into my journal and CTRL-click to the end, and guess how long it is? 313 pages! Unbelievable. Just think, if I had focused all that writing time into something academic or professional, I’d be getting a book published right now. Ha! Yeah right, focus during chemo and radiation. Not me, boys and girls. I honestly don’t know how I wrote every day during treatment, but somehow I wrote all the way through.

Then again, I’m coming up on the one-year anniversary of my diagnosis . . . it was just a couple weeks after the Summit last year. So 313 pages isn’t really that bad, technically it’s less than one page per day. 😉
