cancer – day 179
The cats are here!!!!! Granted, they’re locked up in the guest bedroom (hereafter referred to as the “cat room”), but they’re here in the house, and I go in to see them all the time. It is so nice to hear them purr again.
The only news on the neuropathy front isn’t great . . . now besides the burning in my hands they will often have this piercing thing too that feels like little thorns or splinters prickling my hands, especially my fingers and most painfully my fingertips. I’ve developed this weird habit now of not only sitting with my palms turned up not touching anything but also pressing my fingertips together trying to rub out or spread out the prickling. I don’t even realize I’m doing it, not that it helps.
The first radiation treatment was this morning. It went really quickly; I think I was in there about fifteen minutes. It takes longer to drive there than to get the radiation. Thank goodness I’m not driving 45 minutes each way like I would have to do from home. I’ve read that lots of women refuse radiation because it’s every day for so many weeks and they would have to drive so far to get to the radiation center and they just don’t want to (or can’t for some reason) deal with the driving. Seems kind of short-sighted given the potential lifetime effect, but then again, I’m not making that drive so who am I to talk?
When I got back from radiation I was ridiculously tired and took a two-hour nap. In the cat room. 🙂
