This is interesting. The Sutter Oncology Center called and asked me if I would be a mentor to a new breast cancer diagnose, Alice. I don’t know if Alice and I are close in age or not, but I told them that of course I’d do it. They confirmed my phone numbers and said they hope she’ll call me, but possibly not. (If she’s like me, she’s not going to call, but maybe I’m the only one who’s so ridiculously stubbornly independent as to research everything on my own on the Internet. But I thought it was really neat that they called to ask me. I know they have dozens of women in treatment right now, so they easily could have asked someone else, but they asked me. It felt good to think that Dr. Lombardi and Heidi think highly enough of me to make that kind of recommendation of me.
