cancer – day 105
Uff da!
We’d just gotten back from the blood draw and Mark decides to make himself something to eat . . . cheese quesadilla on Rusty’s jalapeno tortillas. They smelled bad to me even cold, so I started making a sandwich.
Then Mark put the bad-smelling tortilla in the toaster oven, and the whole house filled almost immediately with the fumes, and I honestly think I would feel better right now if I HAD thrown up. But I had taken a compazine for the car ride to the blood draw, so instead of throwing up there was just the nausea of wishing I could throw up.
I bolted to the back yard hoping I’d be able to eat, but that was hopeless, so I took my sandwich in and asked Mark to put it in a tupperware for me. And ugh, the smell had gotten even stronger in his office and mine, and I couldn’t even be in the house. I grabbed the receipts Mark was supposed to scan for me and took off to walk to FedEx to make the copies. That only took a few minutes and as my stomach calmed I remembered that I was really hungry, so I walked a block out of the way to come to the new crepes place for a strawberry blintz for lunch. They have an outdoor patio, and it’s not too hot today, so the smells here aren’t bothering me. I wonder if the house still reeks?
I have a feeling I’ll be eating a few more mushy not-too-smelly meals here at the crepes place before all this is over. Oh well, there are definitely worse things in life than having to eat delicious strawberry crepes for lunch because the house smells bad!
