cancer – day 141

So here my parents were supposed to leave South Dakota today, Saturday, to start their drive out here to visit, but they called Friday and were already in Nebraska somewhere, and today they drove all the way to Nevada (Winnemucca, I think) so they’re sure to be at Volcanoville on Sunday. I guess that’s not sooo much earlier than what it would have been if they hadn’t left home early, but it threw me off, because I suddenly thought I had to get things ready more quickly!

Of course, there’s nothing to get ready, not really. I have to tidy up my office, but there’s only so many places to stash so much stuff, so the space necessarily got a bit of a messiness to it. The bedroom and such are as neat as possible though could (as usual) easily bear multiple passes with a vacuum cleaner, but short of getting an infection from stepping on something on the floor to motivate Mark to vacuum the house, I’ve given up on asking for it to be done. It seems to be a weird sort of sore spot with him, and the thing’s too heavy for me to maneuver without exhausting chemo girl’s pathetic weak body, so, dingy the carpets will remain.

I do need to talk With Mark about what time we’ll all be spending together and how this fits in with his work week and yoga and all that . . . since Mom and Dad have my house in Volcanoville though, they can be relaxed and enjoying themselves out there when there’s other stuff going on down here that they wouldn’t participate in (like going to Cell Space Wednesday night! Or my yoga class, which I don’t really want to skip if I can help it).

Today I went over to the kennel and picked up the cats and moved them to Brian’s house. It’s one of those amazing timing things . . . Brian is traveling in Japan, his housemate is out of town for the week, and Brian’s house is just empty this entire week, just perfect timing for my cats to take over and have a cushy cat life for a few days, and for me to have a place with furniture to meet my parents for a relaxing wine time without being underfoot when Mark is still working or whatever. Sometimes the timing of how things work out is just, well, too perfect to be natural, you know?
