cancer – day 804

I went into Glacier National Park today. Good thing I was in the Jeep, because the road goes down to single lane dirt road in places, and even the outcroppings look dangerous for anything tall like a van. There are signs at the gate that say vehicles longer than 21 feet or more than 10 feet high are not allowed in the park. I can see why, this was a dangerous road! But Rubi was fine, of course. He’s happy because he finally got muddy today. It’s been a while since Rubi and I found mud to play in. 🙂

Besides the austere beauty of the glacial-formed mountains towering straight up above and below you on the park road, and the amazing vistas at every turn, the really cool thing about this drive is the waterfalls. Everywhere, constant, both down the mountains across the gorge and down the cliffs right next to the road. Rubi got washed in the Wailing Waterfalls, where an entire stretch of the road has waterfalls down the entire side for, I don’t know, a couple hundred feet, maybe?

And wow, the campsite I moved to this morning has AMAZING views of the mountains AND the St. Mary lake. Unbelievable. I’m on the top of the hill opposite Glacier National Park, and the vista out my front window is just to die for, except that the view out my side window is just as amazing a view but of the lake instead of the mountains. I can’t believe the last campsite this guy had available for tonight is one of the front ones with the best view. Don’t get me wrong, in this place even the second row has amazing views, and forest out the back too, so it’s pretty much beauty on all sides.

I don’t want to leave tomorrow.
