cancer – day 343
Uff da. I have been working or sleeping every minute since I got home Sunday evening. I’ve been working so hard that I haven’t even done a cut/paste from my journal to the blog yet, I think I’m three or four postings behind. Only two more weeks before the Summit now . . .
But I can’t really work at the moment, because my satellite is offline. OK, it’s an excuse, but it got me away from the computer long enough to open the last two weeks’ worth of mail! The funny thing is that I set up a laptop (one of, how many do I have now? five?) in my living room last night thinking that I could work in there while the satellite guy is here. But HA! No internet. I can be so dumb sometimes. Pretty much everything I have to do today requires me to be online, since I finished up my major writing stuff last night. Tonight will be revisions night, after getting all the reviews and feedback back. Hopefully people are sending me revisions right now so I can do that . . .
So the satellite guy is here, I’ve already opened all my mail, and I have a dead laptop. Well, an unconnected laptop. Interesting, these days if it’s not on the Internet, it’s not nearly as useful a machine.
Anyway! My photo albums and USingers journals are on the coffee table because I’ve been scanning old photos at night, or at least I was until a couple weeks ago when I got too busy with work. So I pick up the journals and start reading. Wow, was that a long trip, when we went to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall and then the European Tour. I filled two notebooks with journaling during the trip! I’m less than a quarter through the first journal, and there have already been about fifteen times I wanted to Twitter something funny from it or to Facebook Lyle or Kyle with some old story reminder. Man, I wish I’d read this BEFORE going to meet up with them last weekend! Of course, then our hanging out would have had to go on a lot longer than 10 hours (can you believe it? I met up with Lyle about 5PM, Kyle and YoLawnda got there a little bit later, and I didn’t get back to my room until 3:30AM.) And the line in my journal that got me to stop reading because I just had to write about it in my current journal was “Lyle and I went for a walk, had a great conversation, and got locked out of the hostel.” How could I forget getting locked out of a hostel, for goodness sake?!? But there are sooooo many little gems like that from that trip, it’s been so much fun taking a break from work and reading to bring back some of these great memories I’d completely forgotten.
