cancer – day 227
It’s my birthday. I had forgotten, until I got part-way to town and my cell phone started dinging and donging with all the text messages people had been sending me all morning to wish me a happy birthday. And every so often all afternoon it would go off again with another person’s happy birthday note. Technology can be so fun!
My parents called this morning but I was busy with packing or something so they got my voicemail, and they sang Happy Birthday to my voicemail. Too cute!
Tonight Mark took me out for dinner and a movie. We haven’t done that in a long time. There’s a casual steak place I like across town called Logan’s Roadhouse, which is where we went. And after dinner, the restaurant staff all came out clapping with a dish of ice cream for me and they shouted to the entire restaurant that it was my “21st!” birthday, and they made the whole restaurant shout “Yee Haw!” to me. Mark was so sneaky. I had no idea he was slipping off to talk to the staff when he got up to use the restroom early in our dinner. What fun!
