cancer – day 183

I’m starting to be burned from the radiation already, the whole big rectangle of skin that’s getting radiated is feeling itchy or stings. My, aren’t the next seven weeks going to be fun. 🙂

I don’t know if I explained before why my radiation is over an 8-week period . . . I actually have 38 radiation sessions. I started on a Tuesday and end on a Thursday followed by an appointment with my new medical oncologist the day after radiation is over. And they’re taking (and giving me) Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday off, which spreads my radiation out just a tiny bit longer than usual. Normally they do 33 doses of radiation so you’re done in about 6-1/2 weeks, but my radiation oncologist felt the margin the surgeon took around the tumors wasn’t really enough and so I’m getting an extra week of radiation to the tumor sites to make sure no lingering cancer cells survive around where the tumors were. Between that and the bolus they’re putting on every other day, I’m going to have a heck of a burn on the skin over the tumor sites. But hey, no more cancer. 🙂

And omg, you won’t believe this . . . Mark’s car was stolen from the Safeway parking lot last night. We were in the store about ten minutes getting just two items for the birthday party, limes and straws, and when we came out to the empty space where we had parked we were just speechless. We’d parked right in front of the store, and poof, the car was gone.So Mark called the police and they filed a report and then he had to call his insurance company, and even though we took my mom’s car (now my Camry) to the birthday party, it was still hard to believe Mark’s car had been stolen from right in front of the store in such a short time.
