cancer – day 111

I am in shock. I had to ask Mark: “Is it really Thursday?” The last few days just haven’t existed, it’s been a blur. Mostly I slept, which is good. Pass the worst of it unconscious, sounds like a good recovery plan to me!

Our network is down at the house. Actually, it’s not really down, it’s exists and is putting off signal, but none of our computers are working on it.

We left the house to go work at Tupelo’s around the corner. It was fine in the early morning when there weren’t too many people there yet and not much coffee smell, but after an hour or so a lot more people were coming and going and I was getting a nasty headache from the light flashing off the glass door as people opened it. So I left, walked back home, and got set up in my office again. Lo and behold, the internet gods were once again smiling upon us and Mark was able to come back home to work for the afternoon.

Every time something goes wrong in this house where it could be related to a utility, I get antsy that we’re going to start having problems with the owners not paying the utilities and suddenly one day we won’t have electricity, or water, can you imagine? But Mark said that Rusty (the spouse in the ownership of the house) is moving out by September 1 and then we can put the utilities in our own names so at least we know those bills are getting paid correctly. Apparently in order to be protected by CA state laws regarding tenancy, we have to keep paying the rent even the house goes into foreclosure around us. On the up side, there is a new law that immediately went into effect for foreclosures requiring 60 days notice to tenants in a foreclosure property. We’ve been looking, and we’ll find a place before October (when we think will be the easiest time to move me), and once the utilities are in our names we’ll pretty much be as set as we can until we actually move out.

I wonder where we’ll end up?
