cancer – day 103
Well, here’s an interesting twist for you . . . we’re probably going to move sometime in October, hopefully during the couple extra weeks recovery I have between the end of chemo and the start of radiation. Apparently the house we’re living in now is going to go into foreclosure or something in a couple months, and so it will go on the market and though foreclosures don’t sell quickly, we’d just as soon get out of here and not have the stress or worrying about moving during my treatments of either chemo or radiation. So, Mark’s starting to look for a new place to rent, and my full-time occupation now is managing the cancer stuff and taking care of myself (with Mark’s caregiving support, of course).
We had an appointment with a nutritionist today, and learned a few things that we can do to help with the nausea and mouth sores. Mark took some other notes down too, things we’re supposed to look for at the store. One of them was certain kinds of fruit juices. Water, even really clean filtered water from the co-op, tastes just terrible to me, so I’ve been drinking a ton of juice, and cool-aid. Apple juice is my drink of choice now, but we ran out last night so today all I had was cool-aid, and WOW was I hyped up on sugar. I was so jittery I couldn’t nap this afternoon, and I’m feeling pretty worn out now from working a few hours later than I was planning on, trying to tie up loose ends before taking off completely.
Tomorrow we’re going to pick up the tandem (Mark was having some welding done on it while he was gone), so hopefully we’ll start bike riding again. That’s turned out to be a lot of fun, and it’s not as tiring for me as riding a bike alone. I imagine if I were really wiped out I could just let Mark do all the work to pedal us home, right? Not that it’s really in my personality to let him do that, I’m stubborn that way. Tenacious C, that’s what Mark calls me.
