cancer – day 84

Ugh, I spoke too soon last night journaling . . . I ended up throwing up two more “series” and man, oh man, do I hate that kind where you’re heaving and nothing comes out but your body’s all locked up heave after heave so you can’t take a breath . . . ugh, last night was awful. Of course I threw up all the pain medicine and couldn’t keep anything down at all, so the surgical site was hurting, and all the heaving made the incision ooze a little but not much so we didn’t go to the hospital.

Finally around midnight or 1AM I was like, “oh come on, we have all these anti-nausea medicines for Monday, let’s figure them out and try something.” So we sat down on the floor with the bag of meds and read everything and decided to try the Ondansetron (zofran). That got me through the night but today I was still feeling awful so I started the day with zofran but added prochlorperazine (compazine) about mid-day. I made over-easy eggs and bread (barely toasted) for us for lunch and I was able to keep that down. I didn’t do much of anything all day, read a few articles in a journal, checked e-mail but didn’t reply to anything. And we still went to the wine club party and I wasn’t too nauseous, though giving hugs hurt quite a bit. The wine club party was fun though, I met one cool new chick named Darby, she’s all into Burning Man and stuff, and she actually described a very different, less gruesome side of Burning Man than I’ve heard about before, which was interesting. I still have my doubts that it’s my kind of deal though . . .
