cancer – day 82
What an insane day. I already had a full day’s worth of stuff to do to tidy things up for Chain while I’m gone, and then going through the presentation this morning Gary had some really good ideas for additional analysis, which I then spent most of my day on, unfortunately. So it’s getting on into the evening, we’re leaving for Cell Space in half an hour, I have at least four more hours of work to do for Chain, and surgery tomorrow morning. So, looks like I’m going to be trying to work on Friday, hope the pain meds don’t make me too goofy. J
I dropped the cats off at the Pet Resort & Spa on the way in to Sac today. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the cats because I’m not supposed to clean the litter box during chemo because of the bacteria and my weakened immune system. And I didn’t want to ask Mark to do it because he’s so allergic to cat dander and my house is just full of it. And the cat room gets pretty messy over the course of a week, I’d hate to make anyone else go in there to clean up after my cats.
So I called the Pet Spa where I took the cats at Christmas while I was in Hawaii (doesn’t it sound like we have a fancy life, me and my cats?), and the woman was incredibly accommodating when I told her the situation about not being able to clean the litter box and that we’re talking about two cats for three months. She gave me smokin’ deal, like 30% of what I paid for a daily rate last time they were there. And the place already knows Mizzou and Seoul, the cats already know the place, and they should be happier with more human contact, I think, than locked up in the house in Volcanoville. This pet spa thing is cool, Mizzou and Seoul will have adjoining kitty condos (have I already written about this?) that are each two stories. The lower level is an open space with a litter box and the upper level has a nice cat bed in it. And every day they get time free in the cat play room where there are lots of cat trees to climb and toys to play with. And I get to go visit them whenever I want, which is the neatest thing about the whole deal. They’re only ten or fifteen minutes away.
And now, off to Cell Space, time for tango, baby!
