cancer – day 58
Now THAT was cool! This is a side of Mark I haven’t seen before, and he seems to be in his element.
My new aquarium didn’t come with a pump, and the pump (another story altogether, involving some quality time on my hammock listening to the wind in the trees) didn’t come with plumbing for it to be connected to the aquarium. Lucky for me, unbelievably lucky for me, Mark is what some people call “handy.” In this case “handy” is about the biggest understatement possible. The guy is amazing with this sort of thing. He was analyzing, working out all the different couplings and adapators and valves and everything we needed (that I didn’t have a clue about), and, I found this terribly amusing, when we went to Home Depot he was like a kid in a candy store. Then we got home and sat down on the floor piecing it together. He was seriously in his game, he loves to tinker with stuff, and it was so neat to see him completely engaged and enjoying himself in this project! It makes me look forward to him finishing setting up his workshop in the garage because it will be so good for him to go out there and tinker around. My Dad has a workshop in the garage, and it’s a similar thing, Dad just enjoys making stuff, mostly wood carvings these days, I think.
Oh, and here was my freakout this-relationship-has-gone-too-far-too-fast moment this weekend . . . after hours and hours of running around getting stuff for the aquarium (which also required a drive out to my house in Volcanoville to pick up the pump which had been mis-delivered) and other errands, we finally got back to Mark’s, and as we pulled into the driveway I was sooo tired, and I caught myself thinking something that startled me. Mark noticed something in my body language and asked “what?” Guess I’ll tell him, what can it hurt to say it out loud . . . “I was just thinking it’s a relief to be home. Which feels weird because we’re not at my home.” Ya gotta love these little gems from Mark . . . he replied, “you have two homes now.”
