cancer – day 230
It’s dark outside. There’s no one here. Everything is packed and gone, and the house is empty. And on my last walk-through making sure I haven’t left a single thing behind, I felt the tears come, and I realized what this moment is.
The end.
The end of surviving what at times I didn’t think I could, the end of a brief life I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy, an emotional experience I never could have imagined I’d endure under the circumstances of surviving cancer treatment.
But here I am, and onward I go. It is what it is, and it is no more.
And so, with each season’s end, a new beginning.
