cancer – day 124

I drove home last night! It was far from comfortable, but I didn’t throw up [yay!]. I was nauseas all night after the drive even though I’d had all three of my nausea meds before I left Sac, but I did make it here and at the moment I’m resting at home in Volcanoville. I spent the morning tidying up the house a little before my parents come out next month, but I pooped out before noon.

My whoops . . . I didn’t take my nausea meds at 7AM this morning because I had turned the alarm off my phone and slept in (which felt amazingly nice at the time). But not far into re-shelving books in my office this morning I got really nauseas again and spent a few minutes near the porcelain god and before realizing I hadn’t had any nausea medicine this morning. I went into my meds bag for the zofran. Heidi, my oncologist nurse, had said of the zofran, more than once, to “take it at the slightest whiff of nausea,” and wow, does that stuff take effect quickly! I feel generally ok now, just tired, with a little stomach ache. I guess coming out here wasn’t such a great idea, much as I needed the quiet and peace for a night or two. I have to go back tomorrow for the pre-chemo appointment with Lombardi, in prep for Monday. Mark clearly had trepidations about me coming out here, but I when get so determined about something the tenacious side of me is pretty hard to dissuade, which Mark knows better than anyone right now.

I wonder if Lombardi will be surprised that I’m still needing nausea meds this long after a chemo treatment?
