cancer – day 122

I spent all morning digging around in my online mySutter pages, going through all the results they’ve posted, reordering prescriptions for next week, and understanding more about the blood work. Then this afternoon I was filling out more insurance and disability forms. Man, managing cancer really can be a full-time endeavor.

So this is cool, the hospital finally loaded all my labs (blood test results), and they have some really neat online features including historical graphing and charting! Ach, i wanted to paste in one of the charts, but I don’t know how to do that on blogger. Maybe Mark will help me with it later.

The most interesting result is my white blood cell count, and the fact that it fell to a really low level and then came back stronger than it was even in May when I had my first CBC at that other chemo facility. I can’t wait to see what it is this next time. Between the second and third CBCs, I started an immune system booster Jim from San Jose gave me; it’s called Isamune by a company called Isagenix. The only bummer is that it’s milk-based and my milk tolerance hasn’t been great since starting chemo, though I don’t think the isamune is causing me any lactose problems. The other bummer, I guess, would be that it tastes terrible! To me anyway. Every time I have a dose (it’s a liquid spray), I make little “uck” and “ee-yick” gagging noises and shake my head side to side involuntarily. But wow, what an awesome white blood cell count I have now!! Let’s hope it stays that way.
